Off grid tiny cabin gets harbor freight solar panel kit installation and I wire 12 /110 volt system
Should have asked a local workshop to pass that huge slab through a band saw and kept the off cut for another project. How heavey is the finished trailer? Ps you mention cocking around things?
Inspiring for my build. Stealing a few ideas
You to block out you car licence plate.
Beautiful video, i love the harmony between you, your girl and two great dogs. I wish i could have the same experience with my grl and dogs. Many thanks for sharing
A canvas or other camper shell make make it better.
Im pretty happy with it like it is
Awesome job! A trick for painting screw heads is sticking them into cardboard and hitting them with spray paint before installation. It saves a ton of effort.
Thanks !! and thanks for the tip that would have been so much quicker
Your cabin is sooo lovely! Beautiful build. ❤
Thank you !!!
You're awesome if anyone didnt get the chance to tell you today
Thank you !!! so are you !
U make it look so easy.nice work ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you !!
@@blackspruce1861 welcome nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍 work
Although I'm a lazy bastard, I love seeing these kinds of inspirational RV builds. It makes me feel like a built it and it oddly gives me a sense of satisfaction. Sorry for living vicariously through your video. But I can't help it. This is freakin cool to watch !!!!
No apology needed , I'm glad you enjoyed it !!
Experiencing a snowstorm at an off-grid cabin must be both challenging and incredibly beautiful. This video captures the raw power of nature and the peaceful isolation of cabin life during such intense weather. It's a reminder of the resilience required to live off-grid and the stunning landscapes that surround us.
Thanks !!! I'm glad you liked it !!
Does anyone know what it ended up weighing? It was built much heavier than a factory built unit. I'd bet it's monsoon, typhoon, and tornado proof!
I put the wight and cost in this video if you want to check it out ua-cam.com/video/6zqvvafOjIk/v-deo.html
i am working on a similar project and found this video fascinating and hugely helpful. i do have a question about your axle, though. and forgive me if you answer this later in the video. but what is your axle rated at and how much does the finished product weigh?
Awesome glad you liked it!! The axle was a 2,200 lb . In my last video on the camper I had it swapped to a 3,500 . I also made an air dam on the front to make it more aerodynamic it made a huge difference. I have 3 videos working on the camper on the channel
Could have made some storage in it so it’s not empty space
I thought about it but its pretty tongue heavy already
I'm not mechanically proficient, but I really enjoy watching your videos, because you take the time to explain everything you do. That makes it easier for the novice builder to understand. Thanks so much for posting your videos.
No problem I'm really happy you like them !!
Just a thought you could add a few doors in the air dam and make storage space.
I could but it's pretty tongue heavy so I really don't want to add any weight up there
Could the space behind the fuel tank not of been used for storage instead of covering the entire area up. Looks nice
I could but it's pretty tongue heavy so I really don't want to add any weight up there . Thanks !!
Good video and covers most of the tips. You didn't mention water which is a primary factor in off grid living. You can hand drill a well if the water table is high or have a well drilled (expensive) , collect rain water and filter it or haul in water. Set up your cabin like a self contained RV with an inside water tank and 12 volt pump. My power system is 1.4Kw solar and 800Ah of LFP batteries and runs everything and I have most modern conveniences without running a genny. Also go to a local lumber mill and you can buy green cut wood for porches and check the dumpsters for left over flooring and trim and ask for scratch and dent and most suppliers will sell them cheap. -LaMar
Thanks !! those are all great tips ! . I actually thought of a couple other things I wish I would have covered too . hind sight
well done! you did a great job
Thank you!!!
Duct strapping. Great for supportive hanging...like that tank.
good stuff
Wow buen proyecto 🙌
gracias !!
Nothing like staying at the cabin with a fire on the wood stove and the kerosine lamps aglow...
it's a great way to spend a winter day
That kitchen is going NOwhere.
No it's pretty solid
I enjoyed it a bunch. Great motivation for all camping lovers. Thanks!
That’s awesome!! Glad you enjoyed it
Uma base pra erguer pirâmide e, em cima, um fogão meia boca. De boa.... muito ruim.
funciona para mim
What kind of siding is that and where did you get it?
It's aluminum camper siding . I got it from bontragers rv surplus in white pigeon MI
very nice job you did
Thank you!!
Try to keep all but just a shave off the mushroom stems so you get the benefits of the beta glucans.
I'll have to look that up , I've never really looked into the health benefits in mushrooms Thanks for the tip!
Very informative and easy to follow. The instructions were clear. Excellent video!
Thanks glad you liked it !!
My friend had a similar situation. The roof was too high for the garage. He took off the trailer wheels and put the trailer frame on casters.
That would be a good way to go .
Wait aren't you the brother that visited bushradical? I love how your family just hides out in the woods making cabins ;)
yup , glad you like it ,cabin building is a good time
Is your tire flat at 4:30?
It might have been
And I bet it will rarely be used...
Well you’ve already lost that bet
Mount your fuel pump on rubber
The mount that it comes with is made of thick soft rubber .
I was curious if you have had and issues with rodents getting into your cabin? Any suggestions on how to keep them out when building a new structure?
I haven't so far . I'm not sure other than make sure there aren't any big gaps and keep a clean job site so they can't be hiding out in there when you're finishing up
@@blackspruce1861 that’s good that you haven’t had any problems so far. I love your videos! Thanks for the response! 🍻
Great video and very well explained. Plus, your soothing voice really helped to keep my attention.
awesome I' really happy you liked !! Thank you !
I think i saw a whipple
you actually saw 2 I'm Ryan Whipple Daves younger brother .
People commenting on the brake situation is confusing to me. Almost every utility trailer sold up to #3500 single axle, does not have brakes. I'm actually surprised yours had them. Anyhow, really nice job!
Thanks ! I'm really happy this has breaks myself it saves a lot of wear on my trucks breaks
that build looks so good man.
Thanks !! I have another more recent video with some updates if you want to see moreua-cam.com/video/2GaUwcLtRpU/v-deo.html
Where did the GF. ...GO??
work
As you were making frame, all I could think was look at all that possible shelf storage space! But it's all covered up with solid sheets of material.
I thought about the but the camper was already pretty tongue heavy
@@blackspruce1861 ahh ok
I did enjoy seeing this build, and I'm impressed. I have a question, though. If you had to do it over again, would you incorporate the aerodynamic addition into the original build, and just finish it off with the aluminum siding? Could you have made use of the extra triangle of space as storage, with access from the inside? Would that have been practical? Thanks for sharing your great efforts.
thanks glad you liked it !! yes I would build it that way to start, and do something with the space . . also I might go with filon siding instead of aluminum .
not that you asked or care ...but just FYI the type of screws you use are terrible. If you switch to square drive you will be in love and never turn back. those Torx screws suck, they cam out too easy. the square drives are the best for many reasons.
I don't know personally I've used both and have had no problems with either . The only screws I can't stand are flat head and Phillips
this is a great build! I am going to be building a camper "pod" for my flatbed trailer, its. a16' car hauler type trailer , tandem axle so it can handle some weight but I want to keep it lite so I can remove it , kind of the same concept as a cab over camper for a truck . but on a trailer. been trying to think of the best way to frame it out and especially for the roof/waterproofing, this just gave me all the answers. not as complicated as I was making it out to be in my head. I am a cabinet maker so I am more than capable of doing it I just was really over thinking it. Thanks for this.
awesome glad it helped !! that sounds like a great way to go , you can have a camper but still use your trailer when you need to haul something
Appreciate the video. Watching from Palau 🇵🇼🤙🏾🩵
Thanks glad you liked it !! I actually had to look Palau up on google maps . that looks like a pretty cool place to live !!
Awesome , wish i could do this sort of thing . Not a fan of the scotch locks though.
Thanks !! I know I've heard that a lot I wish I would have known they were unreliable before I used them
My guy made sure that he had his queen sized bed😂👌🏻
Thats right !!
Should have bolted the frame of the camper to the trailer frame, screws don’t have enough sheee strength, whether you can you gotta use nuts and bolts brother, leaps stronger than screws in so many ways, especially on something gotta get the vibration and forces from driving/ wind
yeah probably would be a stronger way
Wow that's amazing!!! you inspired me and now I know we can build pretty much everything, thank you.
Thats great to hear !!
sea?.......the great lakes are pretty big but they are not seas :)
the kind of kayak I was paddling is a sea kayak . not referring to lake superior as a sea
